Traceability of flat cartons at your fingertips
Robust and compact, Flat 120 is an independent machine in stainless steel conceived to serialize flat cartons and ideal to manage small and medium batch. Once serialized, the cartons are ready to be packaged on existing cartoners. Flat 120 is a tailor-made solution built to approach to automatic or manual packaging lines, which need to be quickly compliant to the serialization requirements.
Despite being stand-alone, it can perfectly communicate to the serialization local server, using all the existing connections and tools.
Flat 120 guarantees ergonomics and accessibility to the batch operations. The open frame structure offers a visual control on all the process phases, as the automatic management of the rejects through the expulsion in the dedicated bin. Thanks to the small footprint, the workstation can be positioned everywhere for production spaces optimization.
Rapid changeover is granted: few special settings conceived for quick adjustment allow to minimize the change impact and print cartons of different dimensions.

SYSTEM TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
The heart of Flat 120 is OCV: the renowned multi-function vision system capable to perform many types of inspection in a completely trusty way, ensuring a very easy set-up of controls and allowing the products to be fully serialized and thus compliant to the Track&Trace regulations worldwide.

Created as an instrument to recognize optical characters, this software, integrated with the machine, has become a product capable of performing a huge number of different controls with the maximum flexibility.
The OCV configuration is modular and scalable: new functions can be added over time and every control is associated to a specific licence.
Furthermore, its versatility allows to create tailor-made solutions for every kind of inspection requirement.

Working cycle description
Flat 120 allows to print and inspect flat cartons granting their stable positioning during the whole process, thanks to specially designed feed rolls.
1. FLAT CARTONS CONVEY TO THE INSPECTION STATION
The cartons are manually positioned into an infeed storage and from here, by means of two conveyor belts working with different speeds, are automatically spaced and transferred to the printing and inspection stations. The presence of feed rolls guarantees the cartons are maintained flattened for highly precise transport.
2. Cartons printing
Flat cartons can be printed with different layouts for each batch, depending on the customer requirements and the destination market. It is also possible to choose different kinds of fonts to print every required character.
3. ANSI Grading inspection of serial numbers and variable data
The next operation consists in checking codes and data printed on the cartons by means of a high resolution camera, inspecting all the products and managing the possible rejects, which are then transferred in a safe dedicated bin. Variable data from a specific process order, including lot number, expiry date and serial number are checked in both human readable and 1D/2D code formats. During the control an elevated quality and safety standard is guaranteed thanks to the ANSI Grading control.
4. Cartons commissioning
Once the information printed on the cartons have been checked, the good cartons are commissioned into a vertical storage, from which they are manually retrieved to be transferred to the following phases.
